AKARI Pointing data
AKARI pointing data have been opened to public users since 2008-3-7. Here is summary of some cautions about the data handling and user support availability. Detailed information can be found at Observers Page at the AKARI project page. This includes data user's manual, software and data reduction support pages and so on.
Please download data from the ftp area or search your favorite target by AKARI query.
General
- Data Analysis: we strongly recommend to consult the Observers Page before the data analysis, unless you are an expert.
- Data proprietary: Part of the data set is encrypted in the proprietary period. Exceptions are Director's Time- and PV- pointing data, which are released to public soon after the data processing.
- How to retrieve (and decrypt) the pointing data.
- Observation data in the AOT FIS03, 04 and IRC11, 51 are not yet open for public due to delay of scientific validation of the data. The public release plan of these data will be announced later.
- Engineering data: There are data which are taken with special hardware setup for engineering purposes.
Version 1 Release
The FIS and IRC data from phases 1 and 2 have been released since 2008-3-7.Version 2 Release
(2009-6-10 Updated) Post-Helium Phase data: The post-Helium phase (Phase 3) routine observations (only with IRC) have started on June 1st, 2008. These data from IRC have been released in a similar way as phase 1 and 2 data. User's manual may be found at AKARI Observers Page.FIS
- FIS51 :This AOT is a special observing setup, which is combination of FIS01 Slow-Scan in the FTS filter setup. The data are not officially supported (FIS*1).
IRC
- Stray light from the Earth: Data taken in April to August in each year may be suffered by stray light from the Earth shine that makes the data reduction difficult. The effect is the strongest in the observations of the North Ecliptic Pole region in May--July season (IRC*1).
- IRC05: IRC05 (and IRC00) is designed to achieve the maximum exposure time, and no dithering is performed during one pointing. The programs that use the AOT repeated observation at least three times per a field with a small offsets in the target position could be analyzed. The fields with fewer observations may have a risk of insufficient quality of the result (IRC*2).
- Parallel Observation: Only observations along with the main observation in FIS03 are supported. No dithering was made during the observation. Therefore, the data are reliable only when observations were repeated three times or more per a target position. Such repeated observations taken before September 24, 2006 9h UT may still not have sufficient dithering as their actual targeted position may be very close to each other (IRC*3).
