VSOP AO2 DEADLINE!

The deadline for proposals submitted in response to the second VSOP Announcement of Opportunity is a week from today. The Cover Sheets must be e-mailed to submit@vsop.isas.ac.jp, and hard copies of the Cover Sheets and scientific and technical justification -- unfolded and unstapled -- should be mailed or couriered to reach ISAS before the deadline of 24 UT, Friday May 8th.

Proposers will be notified by e-mail once their full proposal, i.e. both electronic and printed versions, have been received.

Two minor errors in the AO2 cover sheets have been reported. Corrected versions of the cover sheets were made available last week, but it is *not* necessary to use the corrected versions when submitting a proposal.

COSPAR

Those attempting to register for the COSPAR meeting using the WWW form in the last couple of days may have received the message
"error receiving results from ACGI execution (-1701)"
after submitting the form. This problem appears to have been fixed earlier today. Participants are reminded that Symposium E1.3 `VSOP Results and the Future of Space VLBI' now runs for the afternoon of Friday July 17th and all of Saturday July 18th.

ARISE WORKSHOP

A workshop on the science to be done with ARISE, a proposed future space VLBI mission, is scheduled to be held in Green Bank, USA on August 19 and 20. This workshop will discuss the science that could be done with a sensitive space VLBI mission having observing capability as high as 86 GHz. For more information, see http://www.nrao.edu/~julvesta/arise_gb.html or contact Jim Ulvestad at julvesta@nrao.edu.

GOLDEN WEEK

The initials "GW" are very common in Japan in April, as they are the standard abbreviation for Golden Week, a series of public holidays between April 29th and May 5th. Many companies shut down for a week, and many people make the most of the opportunity to Get aWay. For most VSOG members however, GW has another meaning this year.... "Get Working" on those A02 proposals!
