The Second VSOP Announcement of Opportunity

Last modified: 11 May 1998

The deadline for proposals submitted in response to the second VSOP Announcement of Opportunity has passed. The Second VSOP Announcement of Opportunity was released on 12 February 1998, with proposals due at the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) by 8 May 1998. AO2 solicited proposals for AO2 observations at 1.6 and 5 GHz. The AO2 period covers the 12 months from January to December 1999, although some AO2 observations may be scheduled as early as October 1998 if this enables better (u,v) coverage to be obtained.

This uncompresses to a single 3.7 Mbyte postscript file. The Proposer's Guide is also available in three sections for easier handling:

Errata: Pre-23 April, the Cover Sheets referred to a non-existent Appendix C in AO2 for instructions on filling in the Cover Sheets -- these instructions were instead incorporated directly into the Cover Sheets latex file. Also, there was a typo in the Cover Sheets at item (8) that requested the source name for the 1st experiment to be entered four times: this should have asked for the sources names for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th experiments respectively.

Revised versions of the software packages for simulating VSOP AO2 observations have been made available.

A list of the General Observing Time sources observed, or scheduled to be observed over the complete AO1 period is available for inspection: proposers may wish to refer to this list while planning their proposal.
