The Sixth VSOP Announcement of Opportunity

Last modified: 5th October 2001

A seventh Announcement of Opportunity (which would nominally have had a 1st October, 2001 deadline) was NOT released, as it is not yet clear what form the mission will have beyond February 2002. The deadline for proposals submitted in response to the sixth VSOP Announcement of Opportunity (AO6) passed on Friday, 1 June 2001. AO6 solicited proposals for observations at 1.6 and 5 GHz.

Very little (apart from the dates) changed between AO5 and AO6. The Proposer's Guide was not changed: please refer to the Proposer's Guide for AO5 (available below). The main operational change is that the Goldstone tracking station was decommissioned on 1 January 2001, however this change has little impact on preparing a VSOP observing proposal.

The following AO6 files are still available:

The lists of General Observing Time observations made, or scheduled to be observed, during previous AO periods are available below and may be referred to while planning their proposal to see what (if any) observations of a particular source may have already been made, and which programs from previous AOs may need to be re-proposed. Note that mergers and shared observations are not included in these lists: only the observation code used for the observation is given.

Software packages for simulating VSOP observations are available.

Proposers planning to submit a proposal for polarization observations should consult the VSOP Polarization page.
