Infrared Sky on Your Hand! — Akari Archives Open

Akari is JAXA's infrared survey mission, launched on 22 February 2006. In addition to the all-sky survey, the satellite has performed pointing observations. Akari has observed many objects ranging from small bodies in the solar system to massive black-holes in distant universe.

Initially, data taken by Akari may be used only by mission team members, but eventually all the observational data are released to scientists all over the world. As of April 2008, 2082 pointing data out of 5783 observations have been released. Some initial results can be found at a special issue in PASJ (Vol. 59, 2007).

An announcement of the public data release has been made by the Akari team. The data can be found at DARTS/Akari.

You can freely use these public data, carry out research on your favorite objects, and publish scientific papers. Enjoy, and good luck for your exciting scientific results!
